STUDENT Representative COUNCIL

 

Hey guys, if there is at all something that you should take seriously, this is it. We are your voice and we can only be your voice if you make full use of us. Help us to raise your concerns and matters with those concerned. However, we aren't only about problems! We're also about solutions and ideas. We want you the student, to help us bring the SRC to a completely new level. But before you can actually start bring your ideas and concerns before us, allow us to answer a few frequently asked questions.

 

What is the SRC?

 

The well thrown around term SRC, stands for Student Representative Council. The keywords being student representative. It is the councils job to stand and represent you the student, whenever the need arise. We are there for you! We will provide leadership and coordination wherever necessary. Each year, near the end of the academic year, students elect a new council to represent them the following year.

 

Who are the SRC members for 2008?

 

The SRC consists of eight members who are ready and willing to work alongside you. Below you will find a brief description of each individual's portfolio.

 

 

 

 

Chairperson

Name: Wayne Eaves

Wayne is the Chairperson of the SRC 2008. Together with the rest of the council, it is his responsibility to be your voice with regards to anything you feel that needs to be raised with the faculty. He will lead all student related meetings.

 

 

 

Vice-Chairperson

Luthando is the right hand man to Wayne. Where ever Wayne is unable to fulfill his role, Luthando will step in to take over. He will also therefore be leading various student related meetings. Luthando will be active in the running of the spiritual activities throughout the academic year.

Alexandra is the lady who keeps us all to our word. She keeps record of all the various SRC related meetings. She is in charge of all SRC administrative related issues.

 

Public Relations Officer

Leizel is the lady behind all inter-college activities and college fundraising. Wherever the college is involved in a specific event, She is the representative. Any notices that are to be placed upon the SRC notice board are to go through her.

 

 

 

Social Concerns and Missions Coordinator

Daniel is the facilitator with regards to all mission awareness within the college. He will constantly provide the student body with updates based upon the correspondence received. Should you require any information with regards to the compulsory mission weeks, feel free to contact Daniel.

 

 

 

Music/Creative Arts Coordinator

Judith is the representative from the SRC who is charge of managing all forms of worship that will be held during the chapel sessions. Judith will also provide leadership and facilitation to all creative interests and programs which may arise from the student body. Speak to Judith if you want to be part of worship or drama.

 

 

 

Sports and Recreation Coordinator

Any sports related issues; Joelle is the girl to contact. Throughout the academic year she will provide sporting and recreation activity opportunities for those who choose to partake. We highly recommend you partake as this is a great way to meet fellow students and build long lasting friendships.

All SRC monies will be well watched by Catherine. With regards to any financial requirements for student related functions, She will coordinate making sure that your money gets spent wisely.

 

 

 

Please feel free to speak to any of the SRC members in regards to anything that relates to the student life with on the campus.

 

Who can I talk to besides the SRC?

 

Should you require counseling services, career counseling, financial assistance, conflict resolution, college residence or any assistance with regards to student affairs, please feel free to chat to the Director of Student Affairs, Dr. Nadine Bowers .

 

Where can we relax at Cornerstone?

 

The sugar bowl is the lounging area where all students are able to take some time out and relax alongside the lecturers. Free coffee is available, so grab a cup and help yourself and have a chat with a fellow student. Games are also available, such as foozball for your entertainment. Please respect these goods as they do come out of the SRC funds.

 

Do we have Chapel gatherings?

 

Chapel is run by a Spiritual Life Committee, lead by Dr. Nadine Bowers . They organize and lead all chapel gatherings throughout the year. Please feel free to join this committee. For further info rmation, speak to Ryan Jooste or alternatively Dr. Nadine Bowers . Chapel is held each Wednesday (usually in the Sugar Bowl), however announcements to the venue of Chapel gatherings will be made before each gathering.

 

Are there any Student-Led Initiatives?
